Listen for similarities and not differences. We share common feelings, no matter what our acting-out behavior involved. Don’t separate yourself from recovery or the fellowship. We all feel “terminally unique” at times. With time we learn that we are part of a larger unity that overcomes all differences.
No matter who shares stories at a meeting, listen to the content. The emotions, feelings and fear are usually the same as ours. It is one way, as addicts, we are all alike. On the outside we may seem different. When we look in we are the same.
