Step Meetings

At a Steps meeting, the speaker picks a Step, usually starting in a cycle of Step 1 and proceeding to Step 12 then starting again. The Step is read by the speaker or each person in the room takes a paragraph and reading goes around the circle. Usually the speaker will speak for 10-15 minutes about the Step and then open the floor for discussion on that Step and how it affects our lives and sobriety and our relationships with others, as well as where each of us is with that Step.

The Steps which are about the relationship with ourselves and our Higher Power rather than Traditions which generally are about our relationship with others and the outside world.

Discussion is an ability for each person attending the meeting to say how s/he feels about the Step, and how it has affected his or her life without cross talk or feedback or the use of triggering language.
